Bacteriostic Water

Bacteriostatic Water for Injection (BWFI) is a sterile, non-pyrogenic water solution that contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative. It is widely used in research and laboratory settings for the dilution and reconstitution of peptides, hormones, and other compounds intended for in vitro or preclinical use. The presence of benzyl alcohol inhibits bacterial growth, allowing for multiple withdrawals from the same vial over a limited period.
